As was described in the previous post on this subject, the 5 day detox diet plan is designed for those who want to try something different. It goes without saying that the 5 day detox diet plan is not for everyone. Some people simply do not do well on a detox diet that does not contain a certain amount of animal protein.
There is nothing wrong with that, but keep on mind that the 5 day detox diet plan is not a long-term diet. As its name implies, it lasts only 5 days – can you change your eating habits for just 5 days? If you can and for those who are already onboard, here is the rest of the plan.
5 Day Detox Diet Plan continued:
Dinner Every other day, you can incorporate animal products, like eggs, into your evening meal because the body tends to detox while you sleep, says the creator of this diet, clinical nutritionist Kimberly Snyder.
Days 1, 3 and 5 Snyder says to start each meal with a large green salad topped with lemon juice and cayenne pepper. On the first, third and fifth days of the detox, follow the salad with a cup of brown rice or quinoa and an unlimited portion of steamed veggies. Do not be afraid to double the portion of vegetables if you are hungry. For extra flavor, top the veggies with a sprinkling of sea salt and some lemon juice.
Days 2 and 4 On the second and fourth days of the detox, follow the large green salad with two hard-boiled eggs or a piece of steamed or baked fish – and plenty of steamed veggies.
Dessert Snyder says to avoid fruit for dessert – it can cause bloating and gassiness, which hinder weight loss. Instead, try one of these grain-, gluten-, sugar- and dairy-free chocolate goodies.
Raw cacao truffles and how to make them Combine 3/4 cup raw cacao powder, 2 1/4 cups ground raw almonds, 1/2 cup raw agave nectar, 1 tbsp. organic coconut butter and a pinch of Celtic sea salt in a large bowl and mix thoroughly. Roll up your sleeves, take a teaspoon amount of the mixture and form small balls between your palms. Optional: Dip each truffle in a separate smaller bowl filled with 1 cup dried unsweetened coconut flakes. Freeze overnight to harden truffles.
Almost-raw hot chocolate and how to make it Heat 1 mug of unsweetened almond milk (available at stores like Trader Joe’s) until warm or really hot. Add 1/2 tbsp. raw organic cacao powder and raw agave nectar to sweeten. [source: Life and Style]
